Margaret Fuller began her formal education in a one-room school in Morgan County back when Calvin Coolidge occupied The White House. This year, as students contemplate the start of another school year, 101-year-old Margaret Fuller Hardesty, believed to be the last surviving student who attended Rock Hollow School, reminisces about school back in the good old days.

The fifth of six children born to Otis Dye Fuller and Ollie Clements Fuller, Margaret grew up in a home where both parents valued education. “My mother was raised in the Pennsville area and taught piano. My father grew up in Union Township and had attended Rock Hollow School as did most of my aunts, uncles and cousins. My older sister Pauline, brother Robert and younger sister Eleanor did too,” she recalled.
