A high-speed car chase that began in Muskingum County and ended in Morgan County took place this past Wednesday, Jan. 6. According to Morgan County Sheriff Douglas J. McGrath, the chase ended with the suspect, a Fairfield County resident, and an injured deputy, in the hospital.

On Wednesday, the Morgan County Sheriff’s Office received a call from the Muskingum County Sheriff’s Office requesting assistance when a driver in a white 2017 Kia Optima drew a gun on a deputy after being pulled over. The driver then took off toward Morgan County on SR 555 with officers in pursuit. At some point, the driver stopped and shoved a female out of the vehicle and continued driving. The Muskingum County deputy stopped to tend to the female, and lost the suspect’s car.
