Community to honor nation’s history with Independence Day festivities on July 6

Break Out the Red, White and Blue: McConnelsville Independence Day Festivities set to celebrate the birth of American Independence.

In 1775, when the first battles in the Revolutionary War broke out, few colonists desired total independence from Great Britain. But as the war went on, the sentiment changed due to a growing hostility against Britain as penned in the popular pamphlet “Common Sense,” published by Thomas Paine in early 1776.
