Summer reading at the Beverly Library

Hi, all! As of right now, the Beverly Library is only open as far as curbside pickup. Just call us or place holds online, and we will have them waiting at the front door. Just make sure you place holds on items in Washington County. We don’t have state-wide delivery at the moment. Our meeting room is being used as a computer room. To use the computers, make an appointment by calling. Our programming is also going to be different, but still good. The staff took this time to think of ways we could provide programming, but follow social distancing. So here is what we came up with.

Coronavirus (COVID-19) – March 16, 2020 – I dated the article this week because like the weather, by the time you read it, some of it will have changed. As of now, there are 37 people in Ohio that we know are infected with this novel coronavirus. There are likely more than 100,000 people in Ohio that have the virus and don’t know it. The virus will continue to spread, and those statistics will continue to change. More than 99 percent of people that acquire the virus will completely recover. A few (<1%) will develop chronic respiratory complications and other issues. Those numbers tell us there is no need to panic.

With each passing day, there are more and more stories on the novel (new) coronavirus outbreak known as COVID-19 in our newspapers, news broadcasts and social media feeds. On March 9, 2020, the Ohio Department of Health announced that three cases of COVID-19 have been confirmed in Cuyahoga County in Northwest Ohio. At this time, the general risk to the public in Ohio is considered low. This is, however, an evolving situation and it is important to stay informed by following trusted sources. It is important to know where to look for timely, consistent, and reliable information during a public health emergency.

OK, now that I have your attention, at 7 p.m. Friday, Feb. 7, we will be throwing a 1920s dance. We will have refreshments and games. There will be a dance instructor available to help us learn the dances that were popular in the 1920s. Dress in your favorite 1920s finery, or come as you are. Stop in at the Waterford Township Community Building and have fun.
