The Southeast Ohio History Center recently recognized 16 individuals, groups and organizations from Morgan County for their efforts to preserve and protect the natural and cultural history of the region during its annual meeting. Two Lifetime Achievement Awards were among the honors, recognizing contributions made by Richard “Doc” and Sally Richmond as well as Sara Hurst.

“There is a lot going on in historic Morgan County, and many are doing good work to ensure that our past remains an important part of our future for generations to come,” said Thomas O’Grady, director of development and outreach for the history organization headquartered in Athens. “As our health and nearly all aspects of our cultural history are based on the natural resources of the region, the History Center recognizes efforts to protect land, water and wildlife as a part of our rich heritage.”
