As I make my way down SR 78 every morning, I learned two things very quickly – stay in your lane at all times, and if you come up on someone slower than you, be patient and that person will pull to the side to let you go on by. I can tell you that neither of these things happen where I come from, and where I come from is all over the state – Canton, Springfield/Dayton, Columbus. Although I am ‘not from here,’ I have definitely seen enough to know that this is exactly where I want to be.

My first experience with southeastern Ohio came when I attended Ohio University as an undergraduate. Like thousands of other students, I fell in love with the beauty, the people, and the pace of the area. My first teaching job in Caldwell kept me here, where at the high school I taught English/Reading, advised the yearbook and newspaper staff, and coached a variety of sports for three amazing years. Although life and marriage took me across the state, that small town experience made an indelible impression on my soul. The warmth, the relationships, the integration of school/family/community – I loved everything about it. So when the Morgan Local Schools superintendent position came open, I knew I had to apply. This feels like home to me.
