Daytime Closures for Tree Trimming on SR 669

Beginning Monday, Aug. 26, Ohio Department of Transportation crews will be trimming trees along SR 669 between Hale Drive (TR 266) and Carl Eppley Road (TR 750). The route will be closed from 8 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. The project is expected to be completed on September 13.

Correspondents Needed

The Morgan County Herald is looking to fill six correspondent positions. The areas currently without local correspondents are Bloom Township, Center Township, Hillcrest, Meigsville, and Reinersville. Fairgrounds Water Warning

According to Morgan County Health Com­missioner Richard Clark, MD, in the State of Ohio, and across the entire country, there have been cases of illnesses caused by non-potable water at various fairgrounds. This can occur due to the lack of proper backflow devices on the water sources.

Water line repair to begin today

The Morgan Meigsville Rural Water District will be making a water line repair from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 14. They are asking everyone to please refrain from using water during this time. This pertains to all our customers on the McConnelsville side of the Muskingum River.

Stockport Flushing Hydrants

The Village of Stockport will be flushing fire hydrants from 10 a.m. until 3 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 8. Some residents may experience a fluctuation in pressure, and/or discolored water. Flush lines through the cold water spigot before using water again.

Town Hall Meeting

There will be a Stockport Town Hall Meeting with the Morgan County Commissioners and the Morgan County Sheriff at 7 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 8, in the “The Heck,” formerly Stockport Gym. Stockport Village Mayor Cindy Travis and council members are hosting the public meeting. All residents in the village and township are encouraged to attend.

A consortium of churches in Morgan County continue to offer a free meal the last Saturday of each month. This meal will be held from 4:30 to 5:30 p.m. Saturday, July 27, at Trinity United Methodist Church in McConnelsville.

The Herald Office will be closed on Thursday, July 4, to observe the Independence Day holiday so that employees can celebrate with their families. Normal office hours of 8 a.m. to 12 noon and 1 to 5 p.m. will resume Friday, July 5.

Old Bridge Closing for Inspection

The Veterans Memorial (old iron) Bridge, between Malta and McConnelsville, will be closed between the hours of 7:30 a.m. and 4 p.m. starting Monday, July 8 through Friday, July 12, for fracture critical bridge inspection. The Morgan County Engineer’s Office apologizes for any inconveniences this may create for drivers, but this has to be completed by the end of July.

Free Community Meal

Flag Disposal Ceremony

The Malconta American Legion Post No. 24 will hold its annual flag disposal ceremony at 6 p.m. Friday, June 14, at the Wharf Lot in McCon­nelsville. This ceremony is conducted annually to properly dispose of flags that are no longer serviceable. The public is invited to come out and witness this dignified ceremony where the flags of our nation are honorably retired.

Parmiter Rd. Slip Repair

Stockport VFD Steak Fry

The Stockport Volunteer Fire Department’s Annual Mother’s Day Steak Fry will run from 5 to 8 p.m. Saturday, May 11. The meal will consist of New York Strip for the adults, for $13, and the kids’ meal is $5 for a steakburger and fries. Local deliveries are available after 4:30 p.m. Call 740-559-2311.
