COVID-19 Pop-up Testing in Caldwell

A COVID-19 pop-up testing site will be available in Caldwell on Thursday, Dec. 17. It will take place from 12 noon to 5 p.m., at the Noble County Fairgrounds, located at 44163 Fairgrounds Road. Anyone can get a no-cost test at this location. Preregistration is encouraged at https://mako .exchange/covid19-ereq/?account_number=15655 &account_name=Noble-County-Health-dept. A health care provider’s referral is not needed. Quantities may be limited.

County Commissioners to Co-host Town Hall

The Morgan County Board of Commissioners have announced that they will co-host a town hall meeting to discuss the local financial impact of the sale of AEP land to ODNR.

Morgan County Hazard Mitigation Plan

The Morgan County Emergency Management Agency has announced that the county’s Hazard Mitigation Plan has been updated and is up for review and comment. The next virtual public meetings is from 4 to 6 p.m. Wednesday (tonight), Dec. 9. The Plan Update and the link to join the meetings can be found at www.glcap.org/morgancoun typlan. The report will also be available on the Morgan County website and the Morgan County EMA website.

Letters To Santa

Due to COVID-19, letters to Santa were not picked up during the Christmas parade. However, letters can be dropped off at the Santa House mailbox on the Commons in McCon­nelsville, dropped off at 1044 High Street in Malta (in the black mailbox by the front of the house) or mailed to PO Box 172, Malta, 43758. Please include a self addressed stamped envelope for the letters to be mailed from Santa. If you have questions, please call Leslie Robbins at 740-962-5886.

Drive-Thru Toy Drive

Instead of the regular annual American Legion Auxiliary toy drive, the Muskingum Valley Beverly-Waterford Chamber and Luminant Energy will be hosting a “Drive-thru” toy drive in Beverly. The event will be held on Wednesday, Dec. 2, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Due to coronavirus restrictions, the usual toy drive setup will be reconfigured for people to simply drive through and drop off a toy, gift or monetary donation. This setup will be located at the Township parking lot on the corner of 5th and Ferry Street, across from the Corner Store. A free to-go lunch will also be provided. Participants will receive a grilled hot dog or brat, baked beans, macaroni salad, chips, and a dessert provided by Lisa’s Sweet Stop.

MHS to Hold Blood Drive

Morgan High School and the American Red Cross are hosting an upcoming blood drive for students and staff only from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 10, at the high school auditorium. Donate before December 15 for a chance to win an Outdoor Living Experience, powered by Propane. Prize includes a propane powered pizza oven, fire pit, outdoor heater, and stipend towards propane. Shrivers Pharmacy will have a Senior Citizen and Humane Society Angel Tree this year. Beginning this week, Shrivers is inviting the community to come and pick an Angel to help spread holiday cheer to those who need a little extra.

A sewer project begins on Monday, Nov. 16, on SR 555 in the Village of Chesterhill. The road will be closed between East Street and SR 377. Estimated completion is Friday, Nov. 20, 2020.

A tree trimming project begins on Monday, Oct. 19, on SR 555 between Drake Union Road (Township Road 118) and Glass Road (County Road 71). This section will be closed from 8 a.m. to 2:30 p.m., Monday through Friday. Estimated completion date is October 30.

Mary’s House Benefit

Mary's House will be hosting a baked steak benefit dinner at St. James Catholic Church (257 E. Bell Ave., McConnelsville) from 4:30 to 7 p.m. Friday, Sept. 18. Tickets are $12 per person. To order ahead or for curbside service, call 740-336-1523. The meal includes baked steak, mashed potatoes and gravy, homemade noodles, green beans, and a roll. Proceeds benefit Mary's House. SR 60 Landslide Repair

One lane of SR 60 is closed between SR 266 and Hooppole Ridge Road (County Road 11) for a landslide repair project. Temporary traffic signals and a 14-foot width restriction are in place. Estimated completion date is November 15, 2020.

SR 339 Turn Lane Construction

Beginning Monday, Aug. 31, one lane of SR 339 will be closed between Sweetapple Road and Mary Avenue for construction of a left turn lane, school drive rehabilitation, and construction of a school access roadway. Temporary traffic signals and a 12-foot width restriction will be in place. The estimated date of completion is October 30, 2020.

A landslide repair project has begun on SR 60, between Mautz Drive (Township Road 1183) and the Muskingum County line. One lane will be closed. Temporary traffic signals and a 12 foot width restriction will be in place. Estimated completion date is October 1, 2020.

Fair Secretary Office Hours

Morgan County Agricultural Society Secretary Teresa Veyon has announced a change in the pre-fair secretary’s office hours. There are no hours the week of August 24 through August 29, due to no senior fair entries allowed per Governor DeWine.

Morgan County Board of Elections Office will be closed on Thursday, July 23 and Friday, July 24. They will resume normal business hours at 8 a.m. Monday, July 27, and apologize for any inconvenience this may cause.

SR 339 Bridge Replacement

A bridge replacement project began on July 20 on SR 339, between Woodruff Road (Township Road 230) and SR 676. The southbound lane will be closed, and traffic will be maintained with flaggers while temporary pavement is constructed. Traffic will be maintained thereafter with temporary signals. Estimated completion: November 15, 2020.
