Drug Take Back

On Saturday, Oct. 26, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m, the Morgan County Sheriff's Office and the U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration will give the public its 18th opportunity in nine years to prevent pill abuse and theft by ridding their homes of potentially dangerous expired, unused and unwanted prescription drugs. Bring your pills for disposal to the Morgan County Sheriff's Office at 37 East Main St., McConnelsville. (Sites cannot accept liquids, needles or sharps, only pills or patches.) Just pull up into the alley beside the Sheriff's Office, and a deputy will help you with your disposal. The service is free and anonymous, no questions asked.

General Election Forum

This Thursday, October 24, is the forum for school board candidates and countywide levy issues in Morgan County to present their platforms and answer questions from the public. Doors open at 5:30 p.m., with the first presentation at 6 p.m., followed by questions. The event will be held in the meeting room of The Kate Love Simpson Library and is open to the public. Free Community Meal

A consortium of churches in Morgan County continue to offer a free meal the last Saturday of each month. This meal will be held from 4:30 to 5:30 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 26, at Trinity United Methodist Church in McConnelsville. Members of Grace United Methodist Church will be serving. All are welcome to attend.

Honduras Bingo Night

A Pampered Chef bingo will be held at the Riecker Building on November 8. Doors will open at 6 p.m., and games will start at 7 p.m.

SR 266 Culvert Replacement

A culvert replacement project begins on October 23 on SR 266 in Morgan County. The project is taking place between Stockport and SR 792. The road will be closed in this area through November 12. ODOT's detour is SR 266 to SR 60 to SR 37 to SR 78 to SR 377 to SR 266.

Malta to Flush Hydrants

The Village of Malta will be flushing hydrants from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m., the week of October 7 through 11. Residents may experience lower water pressure and discoloration of water while flushing in your neighborhood. If you have discolored water, you are advised to run cold water until water is clear. This is an important part of system maintenance.

Daytime Closures for Tree Trimming on SR 669

Beginning Monday, Aug. 26, Ohio Department of Transportation crews will be trimming trees along SR 669 between Hale Drive (TR 266) and Carl Eppley Road (TR 750). The route will be closed from 8 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. The project is expected to be completed on September 13.

Fairgrounds Water Warning

According to Morgan County Health Com­missioner Richard Clark, MD, in the State of Ohio, and across the entire country, there have been cases of illnesses caused by non-potable water at various fairgrounds. This can occur due to the lack of proper backflow devices on the water sources.

The Morgan Meigsville Rural Water District will be making a water line repair from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 14. They are asking everyone to please refrain from using water during this time. This pertains to all our customers on the McConnelsville side of the Muskingum River.

Stockport Flushing Hydrants

The Village of Stockport will be flushing fire hydrants from 10 a.m. until 3 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 8. Some residents may experience a fluctuation in pressure, and/or discolored water. Flush lines through the cold water spigot before using water again.
