SR 555 Tree Trimming

A tree trimming project begins on Monday, Oct. 19, on SR 555 between Drake Union Road (Township Road 118) and Glass Road (County Road 71). This section will be closed from 8 a.m. to 2:30 p.m., Monday through Friday. Estimated completion date is October 30.

A tree trimming project begins on October 5, on SR 376, between Pisgah Ridge Road (County Road 10) and Apperson-Bloom Road (Township Road 333). This section will be closed from 8 a.m. to 2:30 p.m., Monday through Friday. Estimated completion is October 19, 2020.

Lions Club Breakfast

Chesterhill Lions Club will resume its monthly breakfast from 7 to 10 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 3, at the Lions Clubhouse in Chesterhill, located on SR 555 South. Mary’s House Benefit

Mary's House will be hosting a baked steak benefit dinner at St. James Catholic Church (257 E. Bell Ave., McConnelsville) from 4:30 to 7 p.m. Friday, Sept. 18. Tickets are $12 per person. To order ahead or for curbside service, call 740-336-1523. The meal includes baked steak, mashed potatoes and gravy, homemade noodles, green beans, and a roll. Proceeds benefit Mary's House. Dinner is sponsored in part by the Malta VFW.

McConnelsville Hydrant Flushing to Begin

According to Village Administrator Jennifer Ponchak, the Village of McConnelsville Water Department will begin semi-annual flushing on Monday, Sept. 21. The flushing will take approximately two weeks to complete.

SR 60 Landslide Repair

One lane of SR 60 is closed between SR 266 and Hooppole Ridge Road (County Road 11) for a landslide repair project. Temporary traffic signals and a 14-foot width restriction are in place. Estimated completion date is November 15, 2020.

SR 339 Turn Lane Construction

Beginning Monday, Aug. 31, one lane of SR 339 will be closed between Sweetapple Road and Mary Avenue for construction of a left turn lane, school drive rehabilitation, and construction of a school access roadway. Temporary traffic signals and a 12-foot width restriction will be in place. The estimated date of completion is October 30, 2020.

Landslide Repair Project

A landslide repair project has begun on SR 60, between Mautz Drive (Township Road 1183) and the Muskingum County line. One lane will be closed. Temporary traffic signals and a 12 foot width restriction will be in place. Estimated completion date is October 1, 2020.

Fair Secretary Office Hours

Morgan County Agricultural Society Secretary Teresa Veyon has announced a change in the pre-fair secretary’s office hours. There are no hours the week of August 24 through August 29, due to no senior fair entries allowed per Governor DeWine.

BOE Office Closed

Morgan County Board of Elections Office will be closed on Thursday, July 23 and Friday, July 24. They will resume normal business hours at 8 a.m. Monday, July 27, and apologize for any inconvenience this may cause.

SR 339 Bridge Replacement

A bridge replacement project began on July 20 on SR 339, between Woodruff Road (Township Road 230) and SR 676. The southbound lane will be closed, and traffic will be maintained with flaggers while temporary pavement is constructed. Traffic will be maintained thereafter with temporary signals. Estimated completion: November 15, 2020.

Health Department Guidelines

The Morgan County Health Dept. states that there is a lot happening quickly in our world, some of which is so very new to all of us. Residents are asked at this time to use every caution and heed every warning that the Health Department is sending out. Follow them on Facebook, check their website for updated information, check on your elderly family members and friends. Also, call ahead for their services. If you are looking for or needing Environmental Dept. guidance, they can most generally answer questions or provide what is needed via email. The office is still doing flu shots, but again, if possible, call ahead. There is a sign on the door asking if you are ill at this time to call from outside the building, so they can prepare for your entry.
