Editor’s Note: The prosecuting attorney’s office is trying a new way to report the Grand Jury activity. They are presenting the Grand Jury report in a narrative form to provide more information which they hope will be more useful to the public. Their desire is to inform the public of criminal activity within our community with enough information to allow the public to be aware should anyone observe such activity in his or her neighborhood.

The Morgan County Grand Jury met on July 18, 2019, and returned six indictments. A felony criminal prosecution is initiated by the presentation of the case to the Grand Jury. The Grand Jury then decides rather or not there is sufficient probable cause to proceed. The accusation of a crime is then made in the form of an indictment. The accused is presumed to be innocent until such time as there is a finding of guilt by a judge in a formal legal proceeding. No conclusions as to guilt or innocence should be drawn from this report.
