Hello everyone and welcome back to Inside Morgan High! This week, I will be covering everything between September 18-24.

Hello everyone, and welcome back! I hope everyone had an awesome fair week this past week. I’m going to be updating you on events from September 11-17.

To start us off, I’d like to welcome everyone back from summer break! I hope you all enjoyed your time with your family this year, and are finally ready to jump back into school.

The Lucky Bucks met on July 14, at the Moore’s, with Karissa Cordray in charge of the meeting. The American Pledge was led by Levi Weber, and the 4-H Pledge was led by Hannah Newburn.

Beginning in fall of 2019, Zane State College will expand its Ohio College Credit Plus Program (CCP)* offerings at Maysville Local Schools, Morgan Local Schools and Noble Local Schools. The approved accreditation change now allows Zane State College to offer 50-percent or more of a degree at these three locations. The approval was granted by the Higher Learning Commission.

The Lucky Bucks held a meeting on May 19, at Embree Park, with President Karissa Cordray in charge of the meeting. Mac­Kenzie VanNess led the American Pledge, and Wyatt Johnson led the 4-H Pledge.

Morgan elementary schools opened their doors to the Class of 2019 for a walk down memory lane. Graduates walked through the halls to see where their journeys began and receive a special greeting from kindergarten graduates.

The 2018-19 Grace Alderman Achievement Awards for Outstanding eighth-grade boy and girl have been awarded to Keira Knox and Zaiden Huck.

The Health Technology Program is hosting a Red Cross Blood Drive in the Morgan High School Auditorium from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. Wednesday, May 15. Morgan Cosmetology’s junior class stylists are open for appointments. Salon times are 8:30 to 10 a.m. Wednesday through Friday. The senior class stylists are open for appointments Wednesday through Friday from 11:15 a.m. to 2 p.m. Other days and hours are available upon request. To schedule an appointment, call the high school.

Congratulations to the Morgan Raider Band on earning an A-1 rating at competition on Saturday, March 9. The band will now go to the State Competition! Also, Morgan Choir received an A-2 rating at their competition.

The Morgan County Children’s Theater has a new name. It is now The Carol Hammond Children’s Theatre (CHCT). This is the same group, same commitment to children, just a different name.

The Believe Achieve Succeed After School Program Showcase has been re­sched­uled. The program will be held from 4 to 5:30 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 14. If you have any questions, contact Alyson White at the high school.

The National Society of High School Scholars (NSHSS) announced Malachi Morrison, from McConnelsville, OH, has been selected to become a member of the esteemed organization. The Society recognizes top scholars who have demonstrated outstanding leadership, scholarship and community commitment. The announcement was made by NSHSS Founder and Chairman Claes Nobel, senior member of the family that established the Nobel Prizes.

A Portable Defibrillator was recently presented to North Terrace Christian Preschool, and four additional area locations, including Morgan Local Schools Youth League who will soon receive a Portable Defibrillator of their own.

Morgan Drama Club will perform You’re a Good Man, Charlie Brown at its annual Dinner Theatre on Thursday, Nov. 8. The doors will open at 5:30 p.m., and the show will begin at 6 p.m. in the high school cafeteria. Tickets are $15 each and can be purchased from a Drama club member or in the high school office.

Last week was Homecoming week here at Morgan High School and many students presented their Morgan Raider pride all week long. Congratulations to our Home­coming Queen Avery Dillaha and King Wesley Pauley. After all the festivities that took place in the competition for the spirit stick, the senior class came out on top.

Homecoming is just around the corner, and everyone has begun to get everything prepared for the big event. The Home­coming Parade starts at 6 p.m. Friday, Oct. 5, and will form at Malta United Methodist Church. Any groups within the community are welcome to be a part of the annual event. The 2018-19 school year has begun, and the activities and athletic events have been set into motion. Here are some of the biggest occasions coming up in the next few weeks.

Washington-Morgan Community Action is accepting applications for its Head Start program for the 2018-19 school year. Head Start, a federally funded FREE preschool program, is a comprehensive development program that focuses on education, nutrition, health, and social development of young children.
