Lucille Stiers Cardone, 95, passed away Thursday, June 27, 2019, in Orlando, FL. She was born January 15, 1924, in Morgan County, Beverly, OH.

She is survived by a daughter, Joanne Barnes, of Orlando; six grandchildren, five great-grandchildren, and two step great-grandchildren.

Lucille is predeceased by her husband, Arthur Cardone; her son, Paul D. Cardone; daughter-in-law, Janice Cardone; her parents; and a sister and brother-in-law.

Mrs. Cardone graduated from Beverly High School in May 1942. She worked for the State of Ohio in Columbus and during the war, worked in the Curtis Wright airplane factory making hell divers for the U.S. Navy. She met her late husband while in Columbus, OH, and they were married March 7, 1944.

Besides being a home maker, she worked at Fort Frye High School in the cafeteria, clerked at Rieckers General Store, and also at Cye Gorrell’s store in Beverly, OH. She worked as a bookkeeper, an optometrist assistant for the late Carl Baker in McConnelsville, OH, and as a bookkeeper for the Skinner Firestone Store in Beverly, OH. She also worked as a volunteer for the Foster Grandparent program, counseling teenage girls in Orlando.

She was a member of the Eastern Star, past matron of the Moriah chapter of the Eastern Star and was a member of the Racine, OH, chapter. She was a district officer for the United Methodist Women of Smith Chapel Methodist Church and also the Racine Methodist Church. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Orlando.

A graveside memorial service will be at Smith Chapel Cemetery.
