Ohio outlasts West Virginia in annual BACF football Classic

Ohio used a strong defensive effort to score a 7-0 victory over West Virginia in the 26th annual Battle Against Cystic Fibrosis All-Star Football Classic at St. Marys High School’s Bill Hanlin Stadium.

Morgan visits Frew Memorial Park in Frazeyburg to play Tri-Valley Black at 6 p.m. on Thursday. They face off with Zanesville MVOTBA, on Saturday, in a 4 p.m. start at Gant Stadium. Post 24 is at Crooksville on Tuesday, June 4, at 6 p.m.

Counterman’s record-tying effort lassos Mustangs in Raider tournament win

Junior Connor Counterman’s record-tying performance paced the Morgan baseball team to a sectional victory over Uhrichsville Claymont. Counterman struck out 12 Mustangs in the Raiders 1-0 Division II Sectional Semifinal win. The 12 Ks ties the Raider record for strikeouts in a game.

The Morgan Lady Raiders’ year came to an end in heartbreaking fashion, in the Division III Sectional, at Tuscarawas Valley. The Lady Trojans rallied for single runs in the sixth and seventh inning to win the Sectional title with a come-from-behind 3-2 victory.

MHS Raiders to host D-II Sectional baseball game Saturday, May 11

The Morgan baseball team will open postseason play, at home, this Saturday. The 16th-seeded Raiders will host 17th-seeded Claymont in a Division II Sectional Semifinal at the Morgan Baseball/Softball Facility. First pitch is set at 1 p.m. The winner moves on to the sectional finals to face off with top-seeded West Holmes, at Millersburg, at 5 p.m. Tuesday, May 14. Since it is a sectional game, there will be a $6 admission fee for this contest.

Ladies split close contests versus John Glenn, Crooksville

The Morgan Lady Raider softball team had seven of its previous 16 games this season decided by one or two runs. This past week was no different as the Lady Raiders rebounded from a tough-luck 5-3 loss at John Glenn to score a 5-4 home victory over Crooksville. Morgan’s contest at New Lexington, last Thursday, was postponed and moved to last night (Tuesday).
