The Ohio High School Athletic Association announced a plan late Friday afternoon to shorten the 2020 football season due to COVID-19. That is if Ohio Governor Mike DeWine approves the plan.

“We are following a recommendation, from the Governor’s Office, to shorten the season due to concerns that COVID-19 may spike in early winter,” stated Tim Stried, the Director of Communications for the OHSAA. “If high school football games are approved by the governor, all teams will enter the playoffs beginning October 9, and the state championship games will be played no later than November 21.”
