The official start of the fall sports season on Thursday sees a new coach, with impressive credentials, guiding the soccer players of Morgan High School. The Morgan Board of Education hired Gheorghe Radu as the Lady Raiders’ fifth coach in the program’s 13-year history.

“I really was not looking for any coaching jobs. At the moment, I am a soccer referee for high school and college and that takes a lot of my time,” Radu said. “Mr. Copeland (Morgan AD) heard about my soccer credentials, so he called me and asked me if I would be interested in coaching soccer at Morgan. After talking with my wife, and some persuasion from Mr. Copeland and boys Coach Greg Jacomet, my wife and I came to the conclusion that I could take this job and help the kids out.”
