SR 266 Realignment Completed

A multi-year $15 million construction project has been completed in Morgan County. The SR 266 realignment project started in 2016. The project closed a portion of the road that was prone to slipping. It was relocated, with new intersections at Point Lookout Road and Mill Run Road. The realignment is approximately 1.66 miles.

“For years, travelers and residents in Morgan County have had to navigate through rough sections of pavement along the steep, unstable banks of the Muskingum River. ODOT Maintenance crews have spent countless hours leveling the pavement surface to keep the route passable,” said ODOT District 10 Construction Engineer Cary Betzing. “This realignment moves travelers away from the river to a safe, stable and scenic section of State Route 266 that should be maintenance free for many years.

The road is now open to traffic.
